UNIQA osiguranje d.d. has been present on the Croatian market already for ten years which has been a period of continuous growth. The company operates as part of the international insurance group UNIQA, which originated in 1999 by merger of the two Austrian insurance companies with a century long tradition: Bundesländer Versicherung that was established in 1922 and Austria Collegialität established in 1860. UNIQA group is one of the leading insurance groups in Central and Eastern Europe, with 30 subsidiaries which successfully operate on 20 European markets.

Beside UNIQA International Versicherungsholding, which participates with 80 percent in the ownership of UNIQA osiguranje, the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development holds 20 percent of its shares.

Through the UNIQA group, the company is reinsured at the most renowned global insurers such as Münich Re, Swis Re, Hannover Re, SCOR, AXA and others.

Top quality innovative products targeting both natural and legal persons and high-level services are business imperatives of UNIQA osiguranje. Responsible and continuous work with the purpose of creation of new products that can satisfy client insurance needs resulted in the increase in the product range by eight new products in the year 2009. Special attention is paid to the introduction of new technology solutions, improvement of business processes as well as to efficient and prompt payments for damages. The very fact that over one third of 370 employees have been taken on in the course of the last two years is a proof of a stable and strong development of the company. During the crisis year 2009 alone we took on 60 new employees and this trend will continue in the years to come.

Owing to the intensive growth of our own sales network comprising over 40 sales outlets as well as to cooperation with our partner Raiffeisen bank, insurance brokers and agencies, last year was exceptionally successful. At the same time, the year in which UNIQA osiguranje d.d. celebrated a 10-year business anniversary was the most successful year in the company’s history.

Despite the global financial crisis and recession which has considerably aggravated work conditions and thanks to the confidence our clients place in us, UNIQA has achieved the highest increase in the total premium income expressed as an absolute value on the Croatian insurance market.

Successful company operation as well as the record premium growth have also been recognized by the expert public. The Croatian Chamber of Economy awarded the company with “Golden Marten” - the most prestigious award for business success. It declared UNIQA the best Croatian insurer in the year 2009.
